The week before Friday is a tease, not the sale in costume
The week before 27 November is for teasers, previews, and waitlists. Give people enough to care. Don’t give them the whole Friday email on Monday of that week, then again on Wednesday, then again on Friday. Preview is not VIP early access, and it is not the public Friday hero. Mix those up and Friday has nothing left to say.
This is the week-before row on the 2026 holiday calendar. Early access is a gated window. Tease is a public hint. Don’t drop member codes into a blast preview.
At The Better Creative, we design preview emails operations can update without leaking the whole offer in a PNG.
Key takeaways
- Say when Friday starts, not the full stack of deals. Save the product edit for the 27th.
- One button: remind me, see the preview, or shop early access. Not all three.
- Put the date in real text. A locked-door GIF you can’t update is a liability.
- Keep the same look as Friday. The tease should look like the sale that’s coming, not like a mystery brand.
Teasers, previews, and the week before
Tease: public list, date, category hint, no code. Preview: a tighter look at one product or a lookbook, still no full sitewide percent. Early access: tagged members, how to get in, when the public sale starts. Thanksgiving on the 26th is not a third tease. It is a Thursday job. Map the week so Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are not the same email in different type sizes.
If you collect “notify me” signups, the confirmation should reuse the preview, not a default ESP receipt. That’s the same thinking as ESP-ready handoff.
What to show, and what to hold
Show the start time, the fact of a sale, and maybe a category or a hero product. Hold the full percent if seeing it early trains people to wait. Show it if the number is the only reason they’ll keep the mail. Be consistent with the landing page. A teaser that says “something big” and a Friday email that says “15% off socks” is how you spend trust.
Don’t use last-chance language in the week before. That copy belongs on the close.

Already leaking Friday’s offer on Monday of that week?
Send the calendar. We’ll split tease, early access, and the public hero so each send still has a job.

What is pre-Black Friday email design?
It’s the teasers and previews in the week before the public sale: start date in real text, a hint of the offer, and one button, without shipping the full Friday merchandising.
How is a teaser different from early access?
A teaser is public and incomplete on purpose. Early access is a gated shopping window for members, with a code or login, before Friday opens.
How many pre-Black Friday emails should we send?
One or two public teasers plus, if you have it, one early-access pair. Daily countdown blasts that week usually flatten Friday.
Should the teaser show the discount?
Show it if the number is the news and will not change. Hide it if you still need Friday to feel like an unlock. Don’t show one number and send another.
Does The Better Creative design pre-Black Friday email?
Yes. We build ESP-ready tease and Friday pairs-pricing from $150 per email with no subscription required. Share your start time when you reach out.
